signs of life out there. lots of wind, but surfside was ridable. most of the sets shoulder out quickly. maybe waist high every 15 minutes or so.

.SYNOPSIS...
LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE OFF THE JERSEY COAST TODAY. ITS TRAILING
COLD FRONT WILL DROP SOUTH ACROSS THE EASTERN CAROLINAS ON
SATURDAY. A MUCH STRONGER COLD FRONT WILL PUSH ACROSS THE
AREA SUNDAY NIGHT...FOLLOWED BY HIGH PRESSURE MONDAY
THROUGH THURSDAY.

NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
AS OF 2 AM FRIDAY...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS
EVENING. THE STRONG SOUTHERLY PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL BECOME
SOUTHWESTERLY AS THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER KY MIGRATES TO
DELMARVA. ADDITIONAL VEERING TO A WESTERLY DIRECTION WILL OCCUR BY
THIS EVENING. THE OFFSHORE FLOW WILL WEAKEN AND SEAS WILL
SUBSIDE OVERNIGHT BECAUSE OF THE FETCH LIMITATIONS. 

SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
AS OF 2 AM FRIDAY...MAINLY WEST WINDS SATURDAY AHEAD OF THE
BACKDOOR COLD FRONT...FINALLY COMING AROUND TO N-NE SAT EVENING.
GRADIENT REMAINS MODEST SO SPEEDS WILL GENERALLY STAY AROUND 15
KT...WITH SEAS LIMITED TO AROUND 4 FT. HIGH PRESSURE BEHIND THE
FRONT IS TRANSIENT ENOUGH THAT WINDS WILL QUICKLY VEER TO ESE BY
SUNDAY MORNING. 

CURRENT CWF WILL SHOW THE VEERING CONTINUING ON SUNDAY AS THE
GRADIENT TIGHTENS UP AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT. HOWEVER THE WIND
SHIFT COULD BE MORE DRAMATIC DEPENDING ON HOW AND WHERE THE WARM
FRONT SETS UP. STILL LOOK FOR SCA CONDITIONS DEVELOPING BY EARLY
SUNDAY EVENING IN RESPONSE TO A ~50 KT LOW-LEVEL JET...BUT AS
QUICKLY AS WINDS COME AROUND TO SW THE SEAS SHOULD BE LIMITED TO
MARGINAL SCA LEVELS.

Huge thanks to the Guy Daniels Memorial Foundation and the town of Surfside Beach. Because of their generosity we have nice trash cans and a clean parking lot at 13th. Also a brand new webcam going online really soon at www.surfoff.com. There are some folks abusing our privileges and writing in WAX all over the access stairs and benches. Please lets take better care of what facilities the town provides for our use.

So here's the skinny on getting one of the first 100 numbers for the state issued "SURFRIDER LICENSE PLATES:"

  1. Contact one of your chapter officers or reps to see what numbers are still available for license plates.

  2. After speaking to one of us and getting your assigned number, then please download the two files here and here. Fill out both forms with a check for $65.00 and return everything back to SC DMV and they will send you the plate with an attached bill for any other registration costs.
    1. SEND TO: SC Department of Motor Vehicles, PO Box 1498, Blythewood, SC 29016-0008.
    2. Please DO NOT SEND any money to any of the local SC Surfrider chapters. We DO NOT have enough of your personal & vehicle info to complete the forms. This MUST be completed by YOU!
    3. If you have any questions about this matter or can not download the forms, we will be more then happy to assist you in any way.

      2. Once you are at this web page look for "MV-95: Application for  Special License Plates."
  3. This should be a very easy process and you should have the plate within one week. If you do not wish to reserve one of the first 100 numbers, the plates are currently available in all SC DMV offices-SO GO OUT- GET ONE- AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SURFRIDER CHAPTER!
